Moto Garage

Privacy Policy

Effective July 16, 2026

Moto Garage is a motorcycle maintenance and garage app published by ADVLabs, a brand of Choyce Industries, LLC (the legal entity responsible for your data under this policy — "we" throughout). This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We keep it simple: we collect only what the app needs to work, we don't track you, and your data is never for sale.

You are not the product

A lot of "free" software pays for itself by quietly turning its users into inventory. We think that's a rotten deal, and Moto Garage doesn't work that way. We never sell your data. We never rent it, trade it, or share it with third parties for advertising, marketing, "partnerships," lead generation, or any purpose of their own — not your email, not your bikes, not your service history, not anything. There are no ads and no tracking. Your data exists in Moto Garage for exactly one purpose: making the app work for you. It leaves only when you choose to share something (described below) or if the law compels us.

Affiliate links — how a free app stays free Coming soon

There are no affiliate links in the app today. This is a planned feature, and we're setting its rules down now — before it exists — so you know the terms in advance and can hold us to them.

So how will Moto Garage pay for itself without selling you? Some links in the app may become affiliate links — for example, a reorder link for a part or consumable. If you tap one and end up buying from the retailer, they pay us a small commission at no extra cost to you. Here's the privacy shape of that, honestly:

Why make it a switch? Because plenty of riders in this community are creators, and we know some of you would rather a purchase support a favorite creator's links instead of ours. That's fine by us — genuinely.

Information we collect

We do not collect advertising identifiers, device location, or contacts, and the app contains no third-party advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs.

How we use it

Receipt scanning Optional

When you add a purchase order, you can choose to scan a receipt or order confirmation instead of typing it in. If you do, the image or PDF you picked is sent over an encrypted connection to our AI service provider (Anthropic's Claude) to read out the order details — vendor, date, order number, totals, and line items. That extraction is the only thing the scan is used for: Anthropic processes it on our instructions as a service provider, the same never-sold, never-shared rule applies, and the scan then becomes the receipt attached to your order, stored with your account like any other attachment. Nothing is committed until you review the extracted details and save the order yourself. Scanning is per-use and always your choice — typing it in works just as well.

When you choose to share

Everything above stays private to your account by default. Moto Garage also has features that share specific things with specific people — every one of them is opt-in, initiated by you, limited in scope, and revocable. Nothing is ever shared without an action you take.

Some of these features are still rolling out (or, where marked, not built yet) and may not be in your app today. We document them ahead of time on purpose — the rules are set before the feature arrives, not after.

Sharing a bike with another rider Rolling out

You can invite someone (by email) to a bike as a viewer or editor. They see that bike's maintenance data — intervals, service history, mileage — and editors can log work, attributed to them by name. Your private bike data is structurally off-limits to collaborators: purchase and sale details, costs and spending, receipts, known issues, and uploaded documents/manuals stay owner-only. You can revoke access at any time, and revocation takes effect immediately.

Giving a shop temporary access Rolling out

You can grant a mechanic or shop time-boxed access to a bike (for example, one day or one week). They can log service and mileage on it — records are labeled as shop-logged — but cannot change your maintenance schedule and cannot see your spending, warranties, costs, or documents. Access expires automatically at the end of the window, and expired access means zero access.

Trips with co-riders and public ride reports Rolling out

Inviting a co-rider to a trip lets them see the shared trip, check off prep items, and add their own log entries, photos, and tracks — attributed to them. Separately, you can publish a public ride-report link for a trip: it contains only the trip content that's designed to be public (your prep checklist is structurally excluded), and you can revoke the link at any time, which also removes the published media.

Public setup sheets Rolling out

If you publish a bike setup sheet, the public page carries a curated set of fields only. Your VIN, dates, odometer, purchase data, costs, and private notes can never be published — the allowlist is enforced server-side, not by trust. Published sheets are revocable at any time.

Selling or transferring a bike Rolling out

If you transfer a bike's history to a buyer, the maintenance record tree is copied into their account as prior-owner history. Your purchase/sale details and uploaded manuals are never transferred. You keep your own archived copy of the sold bike.

Registering for events Coming soon

Where Moto Garage connects you to an event — a rally, track day, group ride, or similar — that event has an organizer, and registering or signing up means sharing the information the registration asks for (for example your name, email address, and bike details) with them. Two things to understand clearly:

Inviting someone who doesn't have an account yet

If you invite an email address that isn't registered, we park the invite keyed by a one-way hash of the address — the raw email is never stored — and send a single invitation email. Unclaimed invites expire and are deleted after 30 days. We also never reveal to anyone whether an email address has a Moto Garage account.

Where your data is stored

Your account and content are stored using Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions) on Google Cloud infrastructure. Data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections and is accessible only to your authenticated account — or, where you've shared something, to the people you shared it with — enforced by server-side security rules. Google processes this data as our service provider; see Google's Firebase Privacy & Security information.

Two narrow delivery paths also involve service providers: if you enable push notifications, they're relayed through Expo's push service and Apple's / Google's notification systems, and if you enable email notifications, they're delivered through Amazon SES (Amazon's email delivery service). Service providers like these act on our instructions to run the app — that is not, and will never become, selling or sharing your data for anyone's own use.

Cookies & local storage

There are no advertising or tracking cookies — nothing follows you around the web. The web app keeps your signed-in session and a few small preferences (like a dismissed announcement) in your browser's local storage, because that's what they're for.

When the law requires

We may disclose information if we receive valid legal process that compels it. We interpret such requests narrowly, disclose only what is legally required, and — where the law allows — we will tell you it happened. We do not volunteer your data to anyone. And if a security breach ever affects your data, we will notify you promptly and plainly.

Camera & photo access

If you attach a photo or document (a receipt, a bike image, a PDF manual), the app asks for camera and/or photo-library permission. Attachments are used only for the item you create and are stored with your account. The app does not access your microphone or your device's location.

Deleting your account and data

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account inside the app. This removes your authentication record and all of your data from our systems — your garage content and photos, sharing grants you've made or received, pending invites, and any public trip or setup-sheet pages you published (including their copied media). Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. If you need help, contact us at the address below.

Your rights, your tools

Most policies make you email a request form to exercise your rights. In Moto Garage the rights are buttons:

We extend the same rights to everyone, wherever you live — not just where a privacy law makes us. For anything these tools don't cover, email us and a human will sort it out.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your data is removed as described above. Backups maintained by our infrastructure provider are cycled out in the normal course.

Children

Moto Garage is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

If ADVLabs ever changes hands

The usual fine print says your data quietly transfers to whoever buys the company. Ours doesn't. If Moto Garage or Choyce Industries, LLC were ever acquired, merged, or wound down, your data would only move to a successor that is bound by this policy's commitments — including everything in "You are not the product" — and we would give you clear advance notice with time to export or delete your data first. Your garage doesn't get sold out from under you.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will update this page and the effective date above. The promise in "You are not the product" is not the kind of thing that changes.
